TAUTLINER TRAILER CURTAINS

Custom made high quality curtains for lasting visibility.

Secure your trailer with our high quality tautliner curtains, made from top of the range tarpaulin quality and strength. All our tautliner curtains are manufactured from a 12x12 panama weave heavy duty PVC tarpaulin to ensure optimum strength and durability. In addition, printed curtains are protected by an additional layer of UV glaze to offer maximum protection against fading from the sun and cleaning chemicals.

All of our tautliner curtains are converted with top runners and bottom buckles based on your type of trailer and requirements like. double wheel hinged nylon runners or steel runners.

The perfect fit for your trailer. Guaranteed.

Prior to manufacturing curtains, a full audit is conducted on trailers to document correct sizing and technical details to ensure a perfect fit. As part of the audit, we will also check on the trailer’s curtain hardware like the poles or hooks, as well as the condition of the roof and weatherstrips. Subject to the condition of these, we can either repair or replace these items as an additional service.

SECURITY MESH

Safeguard your cargo

Security mesh can be added to the inside of your curtain for protection with a visible pattern serving as an added deterrent.

The Security Mesh is fitted at a standard height of 900mm at the bottom of the curtain, yet varius configurations are available to suit your needs like 1 800mm (double) or the popular "U-Shape" with added height on both front and rear ends of the curtain, targeting the popular sections for sabotage.

The two popular mesh types used in South Africa are:

Ferrari Defender mesh is a high strength, light weight material consisting of titanium strips making it very difficult to cut through your curtain and access your load. It also offers maximum flexibility to conform around the tensioning pole leaving no exposed gaps between the pole and edge of mesh.

Weight: 23kg (On standard 6/12 Tautliner)

Cosecure mesh is a heavy duty and rigid material consisting of flat/round iron bars with synthetic mesh and PVC layers. The configuration of this mesh has larger squares making it hard to fold around tensioning poles, leaving an exposed gap between the pole and edge of the mesh. A popular configuration is the combination of Cosecure mesh with Defender mesh on the edges to allow the mesh to still fold around the poles.

Have any more questions?

  • Is there a warranty on the Tautliner curtains?

A three year (36 month) pro-rata (Diminishing) warranty is offered on all digitally printed curtains in terms colour fading and glaze adhesion.  The warranty is subject to correct maintenance and cleaning protocols followed.

In the event of a failure, the curtains may be replaced at a pro-rata cost based on total months usage vs total months left for the period.

The warranty does not cover cuts where there is a break in the glaze that may result in eventual peeling.  It further does not cover any negligence by driver in the event of curtains being hooked/torn e.g. forklifts

  • How long does it take to produce Tautliner curtains?

Excluding the design and approval process, the physical manufacturing of a set of superlink (6-12m) curtains may take up to 4 days.

This includes the physical print process, curing of ink, addition of UV solvent glaze and curing.  Addition of protection mesh (if applicable) and finally converting (addition of webbing, runners and buckles).

External factors like cold and rain may affect curing times and extend the production leadtime.  At least 24 to 48 hours is normally recommended for the curing of inks, glaze and mesh to reach optimal settling.  The leadtime may also be influenced by the size of curtains and complexity of converting in the case of specialized curtain sets.

  • What can I do if my curtains are torn or cut?

Most cuts, tears and holes can be fixed by a simple cut, patch and weld process without even having to take down the curtains.  For more extensive damage, curtains can be fixed using high frequency welding machines to join big cuts.

It is important to note that although best care is taken with repairs, there will always be the possibility of visible lines.  Also important to remember, any cut in the glaze may result in peeling over time due to a break in the compound.

Our team will always advise when a repair will be futile and if a replacement is best recommended.

  • Can I put artwork or glaze on existing curtains?

It is not recommended to glaze existing curtains as dirt and grit from the road would have already penetrated and settled in the pores of the curtain PVC.

Glazing over compromised PVC will lead to the glaze failing, and will subsequently start to peel.

  • Will the sun damage my Tautliner curtains?

The UV index of Southern Africa will most definitely have an impact on curtains over a period.

The addition of the UV solvent glaze adds shine and protection to curtains extending the longevity of curtains.

  • How do I care for my Tautliner curtains?

It is recommended to make use of normal hose-pipes, soft brush brooms and non-abrasives cloths.

Normal car sponges/chamois or mutton cloths can be used. Use wet, non-abrasive solutions that contain no solvents, waxes or alcohol and has a pH value between 3 and 11 (neither strongly acidic nor strongly alkaline).

Do not use sunlight liquid or any degreasing solutions. The use of high-pressure hoses is not recommended as the UV glaze may be damaged, leading to glaze failure and subsequent colour failure.

However, if high-pressure washing cannot be avoided, care must be taken in terms of the spray nozzle, pressure, angles and distance.

  • How long will my Tautliner curtains last?

The general lifespan of curtains as rated for usage in South African UV conditions, is approximate three years (36 months).

However, provided the correct maintenance and cleaning guideline is followed, curtains may last beyond this period.
